On March 23, 2015, the Nashua Board of Education approved an operating budget of $102,680,963 for the upcoming school year. Overall, the Board approved to increase the District's total operating budget by 1.98% above last year's base operating budget.
The Nashua Board of Aldermen (BOA) sets the bottom line of the budget. The Board of Education is now sending its recommended budget to Mayor Lozeau and the Board of Aldermen. The BOA will not likely finish its review of the District budget until June.
The Nashua Board of Education's operating budget is currently $482,448 above the Mayor's request for a school budget increase no higher than 1.5%; consequently, the Board met on April 6, 2015 to establish a list of further reductions if the Mayor and the BOA limit the increase in the school budget to 1.5%.
