After graduating from the University of Maine in 1970, Mr. Farrington joined the US Air Force. He went to Officer Training School, followed by Undergraduate Pilot Training and then completed specialized training before being stationed in Vietnam where he flew 100 combat missions. When he returned from Vietnam, he was assigned to work as an instructor pilot, first at a pilot training base and later at the instructor school.
In 1978, Mr. Farrington left the Air Force and was hired by American Airlines where he was employed as a pilot for the next 30 years. He spent his airline career flying a variety of aircraft both domestically and internationally, retiring 2008.
Mr. Farrington and his wife Gail moved to Nashua in 1978. They raised four children who all attended Nashua School District schools. They now have three grandchildren, the oldest of whom is enrolled in the Nashua schools.
Mr. Farrington served two terms on the Nashua Board of Eduction from 1990 through 1997. He served as President of the Board of Education for five of those eight years. Additionally, he has served on the Nashua Board of Assessors since 2012.
In his retirement, Mr. Farrington enjoys spending time with his grandchildren as well as a variety of other interests including reading, music, and woodworking.
