Gloria Timmons graduated from Rivier University in Nashua with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology. She has lived in Nashua since 1990, and has a son and daughter who both graduated from Nashua Senior High School. Her oldest daughter received her education from the Department of Defense Schools in Germany. Gloria has twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Many of her grandchildren attended or are attending school in Nashua.
Ms. Timmons is a retired U.S. Army veteran. She also retired as the Assistant Director for the New Hampshire Department of Employment Security.
Ms. Timmons is the president of the Greater Nashua Area Branch NAACP, serves on the Executive Committee of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK), serves on the Nashua Community Conversation on Race & Justice (NCCRJ), and served from 1994 to 1996 as a commander for Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Chapter 37, Nashua. She lives in Ward 2 and chairs that ward. In addition, Ms. Timmons works on MBK focus group 1, whose objective is to ensure that children learn to read before third grade.
Ms. Timmons focus as a member of the Nashua Board of Education will be to work on policies that will promote the physical and mental health of our children and teachers; thereby, ensuring that our public schools are the best in the state and in the county. In addition, she believes the answer to real education and school transformation is strong, authentic community connections.
Ms. Timmons was elected to the Nashua Board of Education in November 2017.
