Student Privacy Concerns
The New Hampshire Department of Education (DOE) recently published responses to inquiries regarding the privacy of student records under Smarter Balanced, the new state tests that all New Hampshire students, including Nashua students, will start taking in 2015. Smarter Balanced will replace the current state test, NECAP (New England Common Assessment Program).
In 1993 the New Hampshire Legislature enacted a law (RSA 193-C) that created the New Hampshire Educational Improvement and Assessment Program (NHEIAP). RSA 193-C requires all public school districts to participate in this assessment, which is currently the NECAP.
In addition to information about confidentiality of student recrods and testing results, we would like to share with you information about the New Hampshire College- and Career-Ready standards. These standards are an integral part of the Common Core State Standards, which the New Hampshire Board of Education adopted in July 2010. Since then, the Nashua School District has been working to redesign its curriculum to align with these standards.
